Summary of News from the TX Board of PT Examiners Communiqué
  • The PT board and staff have been developing rules and procedures to implement Criminal Background Checks through fingerprinting for all applicants for a new license and for current licensees as part of the license renewal process.
      • Fingerprinting will be required for all applicants for licensure as well as licensees who renew their license on or after January 1, 2019.
      • Information regarding this rollout and the procedures to follow will be updated on the Board’s website at www.ptot.texas.gov.
  • Applicants for an initial Texas license and licensees who are renewing their license are required to take the PT Board’s Texas Jurisprudence Assessment Module (TX JAM). This replaces the previous Jurisprudence Exam and the ethics/professional responsibility continuing education course requirement.
    • The TX JAM has an assigned value of 2 CCUs.
    • Constructive recommendations to improve the current TX JAM module can be sent to emailpt@ptot.texas.gov.
  • Phase 1 of the transition to birth-month license renewal has now been completed. Licensees should now have a license expiration date that corresponds with the last day of the month in which they were born. If you are unsure of your new birth-month expiration date, you can look up the status of your license through the Board’s license verification system at www.ptot.texas.gov/page/look-up-a-license.
